I am a huge fan of mixing and matching when it comes to fashion. Most people are afraid of being seen wearing the same outfit twice in a week but I do not have such fear. What I do is acquire clothes with simple designs that can be easily spruced up with the right accessories.
T-shirts are a must for me. Imagine this scenario where I have just purchased a $10 shirt at the flea market. It’s long and bears a simple but eye catching pattern on it. I wear it the day after I bought it. After I tire of it, I cut off the sleeves and adorn the shirt with minuscule colorful buttons and voila! It transforms into a nice DIY dress when paired with a pair of tights.
Another must-have is a pair of jacket or two. Blazers are also a good investment. You can wear them virtually anytime and still look good without being overdressed. Wear it when you’ve got an important meeting to attend, and shrug it off afterwards when you go for a cup of coffee and muffins with your mates.
Mixing and matching takes creativity and a little courage to experiment. Don’t be afraid to try on new ensembles. You may be labelled a walking fashion disaster but at least you won’t get thrown into jail by the fashion police!
